ASTROS WIN!!!

What a classic! The Astros were down 6-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Lance Berkman hit a grand slam to make it 6-5. Then, in the bottom of the 9th with two outs, Brad Ausmus tied it up with a home run. What followed was nine more innings of drama. With the bullpen empty and no position players left on the bench, Roger Clemens came on in the 15th to bat in the # 2 position with Biggio on first with no outs, and he laid down a great bunt to move Biggio over. That produced just one of many chances each team had to score in extra innings, and all the pitchers were so clutch.

Clemens went three innings, gave up one hit and walked no one and struck out four.

In the bottom of the 18th with one out, Chris Burke hit it into the stands in left to win the game.

This was the longest playoff game in MLB history, both in innings and time. The previous record in terms of innings was 15 in 1986 between the Mets and...Astros. The Astros lost that one, however. That was just part of my misery that year as Boston lost in seven games to the Mets.

But today is another story. Now the Astros have to take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Just as it was last year, that will be a difficult task. It should be a great series.

GO ASTROS!!!
