Longhorns win title.
Well, U.S.C. has been dethroned--by Vince Young. In one of the greatest performances I have ever seen in college football, the U.T. quarterback almost singe-handedly destroyed the the 2-time defending champions. Young had 267 yards passing, 200 yards rushing, and scored 3 rushing touchdowns. Simply amazing.
Man, I am miserable. Take how I feel about George Bush, multiply that by 10, and you will have some idea how I feel about u.t. football.
Still, they deserve the glory this year.
And Pete Carroll deserves blame for calling a crappy defensive game. Except for the last two times U.S.C. had the ball (and there was :16 left the last time), U.S.C. scored every time it had the ball in the second half. They had a 12-point lead with about 7:00 left in the game, AND THEY LOST. U.S.C. allowed Vince Young time to make reads and passes, and he absolutely killed them. Because of that, U.S.C. did not deserve to win. They handed Texas the chance to win, and the Longhorns grabbed it and shoved it right down the Trojans' throats.

That was a great game. Actually, all USC had to do was call a time out after that controversial touchdown Texas had in the first half. A review would have overturned the decision on the field.
So, you don't like the Longhorns? I was glad to see the outcome - I often root for the underdog.
I missed the first half, but I think the announcers said that the reason that non-touchdown was not reviewed was because there was an equipment malfunction in the replay booth.
I despise u.t. football (and the Longhorn Band, but that's another topic). There are some exceptions, but as a general rule, there is no group that is as arrogant, condescending, dismissive, and non-gracious as Longhorn fans. Their attitude has to be experienced to be believed and understood. Now that u.t. has actually won something, they will be even worse.
Years ago there was a bumper sticker that read "If U.T. was playing the Russians, I'd be for the Russians." I wish I had one of those stickers.
Calling the Longhorns underdogs is close to saying the Republicans are underdogs in the federal government. u.t (lower case intentional, BTW) has unlimited funds, the best facilities anywhere, and Austin is one the greatest places in the world--especially for college students. Year after year, they have recruiting classes in the top 5.
With all that being said, the Longhorns deserved to win last night. They were the better team. And Mack Brown actually outcoached an opponent in a big game, which was a huge surprise.
