Preview of an extended rant about something besides Cheney or Republicans
I am about to tear the "leaders" of the Democratic Party a new asshole.
Why?
Paul Hackett was basically forced out of the Ohio Senate race by the same "leaders" that asked him to run in the first place.
And why has that made me so angry?
For now let's just say that these jackasses failed to learn anything from the 2004 election, and as a result, they are going to lose many current Democrats and utterly fail to pick up votes from independents and Republicans that are there to be had. These "leaders" are gutless and stupid, and unless they change their ways very soon, the mid-term elections are going to be a huge disappointment.
Stay tuned...

You are right that this is nothing new. However, something "new" has to be done. The Democratic Party is alienating a lot of it members. Many of us were really disgusted that Kerry was forced upon us, but we voted for him in November anyway. Since then, the Party has continually pulled this kind of crap, and what it says very directly to many Democrats is "Your views don't count and we don't care."
My biggest problem--which I will explain in my rant--is that the Party is making huge strategic mistakes. One in particular stands out. The party is doing the same thing it did in 2004. Kerry thought that people were so fed up with Bush that he (Kerry) really did not have to do anything to win. There was a group of us at the Clark Community Network saying over and over that that was not good enough, that Kerry had to give people a reason to vote FOR him, not just AGAINST Bush. He never did, and thus he handed the election to Bush. This was analogous to the Bushies thinking that everything would be magically O.K. in Iraq after the war. This Hackett incident tells me that the Democratic Party leadership feels that the GOP is self-destructing and that Dems do not have to really do anything to win in November. That is so stupid and short-sighted.
I could go on and on, but I'll save it for full posts.
Don't count on it.
I think I have said this before, but even if I have, it warrants reiteration. If Hillary gets the nomination, the Democratic Party will fly apart. There are plenty of people like me who simply will not vote for her.
Also, the Democratic Party is showing signs of making the same mistakes they have been making since 2003. Bush could have and should have been beaten soundly in 2004, but he got reelected. He did not win the election--the Dems handed it to him.
Can you tell I'm just a little worked up over this? :-)
