The Stars were again pathetic, but how 'bout them Red Wings?

Yesterday, the Dallas Stars blew it one more time against the Colorado Avalanche, as the D-men were nonexistent about six minutes into overtime and allowed Andrew Brunette to get the puck right on the doorstep and keep it for almost two seconds before he roofed it over a prone Marty Turco to end the series. I missed all but the last minute of the game (I had a chamber orchestra gig), but I can say that that goal was not Turco's fault. He had no chance. He had to go down immediately--that's how wide open and unchecked Brunette was--and then when still no one took out Brunette, all he had to do was wait and easily lift the puck. The Stars have been a horrid playoff team the last few seasons, and I am getting sick of it.

But at least I'm not feeling the pain of Red Wings fans. Dallas was the second seed in the West, but the Red Wings were the top seed and the best record--by far--in the whole league, and they just got bounced by the bottom seed Edmonton Oilers. Congrats, Oilers!!! Man, they played outstanding hockey in the series. Edmonton native Fernando Pisani had two goals for the Oilers. How cool is that? Also, Edmonton has two of my favorite players, Ryan Smyth and Mike Peca. The West is now wide open...
