A source for the Minuteman perspective on immigration

The Minuteman Project has a website, The Official Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. I am looking for links to other sites which offer differing views, but in the meantime, if someone cites one in a comment, I will edit this post to include such a link.

NOTE: The opening comments to this post have nothing to do with immigration, thanks to a certain New York football Giants fan. :-)

Forget the Minutement, let's talk football.

Well, at least you waited close to three hours before bringing this up. And to think I never said anything about how the Cowboys controlled the Giants the first time around. :-)

Seriously, it was quite the defensive game. The Cowboys offensive line was highly offensive to me. Man, they were no match for the Giants today. And it's not like the Giants' offense was doing anything today. I did indeed start Eli on my fantasy team today in the hopes it would cause him to have a bad day, and I benched Terry Glenn in the hopes he would score (due to cruel fate, I had no chance of making my league's playoffs, so I literally had nothing to lose). Both those moves paid off, but the Cowboys still lost.

At least the Cowboys are still in the playoff chase, but if they don't fix the offensive line, it is going to be a sad finish.

I think the the Giants Offense should treat the entire Defense to a big steak dinner. Giants won't go far if they don't do something with the Offense. They dodged the bullet yesterday.

OK, this certain Giants fan is waiting for more words of wisdom on immigration.

I scanned the link on the MM and have read a little about them elsewhere. My uninformed opinion is that the group has good intentions, I can't disagree with their concerns toward illegal immigration and the threat it poses, but it leaves me with a taste of vigilantism.

Actually, it is similar in concept to a group first organized in NYC about 25 or so years ago - Something Angels. A group of ex-gang members who decided to band together to clean up the city of gangs.

But, I suppose I can support you Texans banding together to beat the bushes driving out the illegals so we here in NY can sleep easy at night.

I understand your taste of vigilantism, but from what I have read and heard about them--and from one of them--the group works at making sure that any such attitude does not spill over into action. My impression is that the group is more concerned about political action than being actual vigilantes.

The group in NYC is the Guardian Angels

In my first post about the Minuteman Project, I quoted an interview with a man named Tim Donnelly. He posted a couple of comments to the post. He talked at length in his interview about how immigration was going to be a major political issue within the Republican party. It was very interesting stuff. Perhaps I will get around to posting his comments.

You would think that Texas would be the point of origin of the Minuteman Project, but I believe it started in California and Arizona. Also, the issue of immigration is very complicated in South Texas. South Texas is like a separate country--not American and not Mexican. It's South Texas.

Ah yes, the Guardian Angels. The organization did take off and spread to other cities. I don't have any strong opinions either way, but I remember they were not always given the "keys to the city" when they set up shop. There were reports that some members maybe went a little too far.

That said, I understand how these MM would want to actually see something done. No more lip service. And I suspect if I lived in CA, AZ or TX, I would have a much stronger opinion. I agree it is a big issue and will only get bigger if not properly addressed.
