World Series hopes

I hope that the vaunted Astros bullpen does not stink up the joint like they did on Sunday. With 2 outs in the 7th, Wheeler was terrible. Did the ump make a bad call that Dye was hit by a pitch? It sure looked like it to me, but so what? If Wheeler had been able to even get close to the strike zone with the previous batter, the inning might have been over. And then Qualls came in and gave Konerko--Chicago's RBI leader--a belt-high fast ball right down the center. And finally, for the second straight appearance, Lidge gives up the game winning home run. Those guys need to calm down and pitch like they did in the NL playoffs.

That being said, here's hoping Oswalt has another complete game...

Are the Astros down 2 games because they stunk up the joint or because the Sox are a much better team? I guess it depends on if you want to take a liberal negative view or a positive conservative view. I'll be watching tonight.

The White Sox were good Sunday, but not great. After all, they gave up 6 runs to a low scoring lineup AND allowed the bottom of the order to put up two runs in the 9th. On the other hand, there is no question that the Astros bullpen was horrendous. And the fact that Lidge has given up two straight game-winning HRs is a distrubing trend.

And in case you did not see the game on Sunday, the gopher ball Qualls threw to Konerko was his VERY FIRST pitch. That was just plain stupid.

I missed Quall's first pitch - past my bedtime. :-) I'll watch tonight as long as I can hold out. I've read a lot of negative comments on other blogs about the Yankees. Oh, and one or two here. I tend to root for the underdog and I'm glad to see Chicago getting this opportunity. See, even though a conservative, I am for equal opportunity. Chicago and even Houston deserve the chance to win the World Series as much as the Yanks do. But, I wonder if the Yanks were battling it out with the Astros right now it would be a more exciting series. Right now it's two underdogs battling. Astros vs Yanks would be David and Goliath. And of course there would be the Clemens/Pettite as former Yankees angle.
